NLT provides New Jersey hockey players with specialized equipment to cover all aspects of the game. Players work on their skating power and technique, playmaking awareness, stick handling, and shooting to give them every advantage on the ice. While our hockey- specific equipment enhances skill, our speed and strength exercises work on creating more power and explosiveness on the ice. Olympic lifts, speed circuits, conditioning, and strength exercises develop the muscles to improve performance and protect against injury. The specific hockey training, combined with the off-ice regimen, helps give our players the opportunity to succeed.

Each athlete has a different goal and focus, depending on age and time of the year. NLT allows its athletes to train for their individual needs by utilizing Olympic lifts, speed circuits, conditioning, and other dynamic strength exercises. Each client will see the benefits translate noticeably into their performance on the ice and field.

Sport-Specific Training

NLT is prepared to give entire teams a rigorous off-ice workout, while also allowing the team to utilize the hockey-specific equipment. The facility is perfect for giving teams an upper hand on the competition. Teams are broken up into groups to focus on hockey, strength, and speed, all of which are supervised by an NLT trainer. Along with gaining physical prowess, the team builds chemistry as players push each other to be faster and stronger.

Team Training

In conjunction with its training services, NLT offers nutrition services to help clients reach their fitness goals. Our nutrition sessions are 30 minutes long and are held on a bi-weekly basis. Our nutritionist analyzes intake, food preferences, dietary restrictions, and calorie expenditure to improve overall nutrition, as well as to assist with increasing, decreasing, or maintaining weight. Nutrition seminars are available for interested teams or similar organizations looking to gain insight on how individuals can develop their diets, achieve more from their workouts, and see better results overall. Our nutritionist creates recommendations curtailed to each client for post-game, post-workout, off-season, and tournament eating.

Nutrition

NLT is not just for athletes; our degreed and certified personal trainers can help anyone meet their fitness goals. Our specially designed training programs are tailored to the individual, so no two programs are the same. Strength, endurance, and flexibility are the focus of our functional training sessions. Our trainers will also design a cardio program to fit the needs of anyone--from a beginner runner to a seasoned marathoner. So, whether you are here to train to compete in an event, to keep in shape, or to just jump start weight loss, our trainers have what it takes to push you to the next level.

Personal Training

NLT trains its athletes not only for the performance benefits, but also for injury prevention. Injuries, though, are natural to all sports, which is why NLT has an on-site certified physical therapist, Dr. James O'Rourke. Dr. O'Rourke has received both his Masters Degree and Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from Richard Stockton College of NJ.  Upon joining NLT, all individual clients are entitled to one free initial 30-minute evaluation screening with Dr. O'Rourke.
