The recent State tournaments had an impressive outcome for two teams who train at Next Level. Both Morristown High School and Morristown-Beard School emerged victorious during their respective 2014 NJSIAA Final matchups on Sunday. We congratulate both teams on their titles as 2014 State Champions!
Both games were held at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
Morristown High School defeated Ramsey by a final score of 1-0 during yesterday’s Public B Championship game. Morristown’s lone goal came from senior captain, Brian Begley, with just 33.8 seconds left in regulation. After heartbreaking losses in the State Finals the past two seasons, Morristown had a well-earned and satisfying finish to its third-straight State Final game.
Last night’s victory marked the first-ever State championship title for Morristown.
Morristown-Beard, also this year’s Mennen Cup champions, matched up against Christian Brothers Academy in yesterday’s Non-Public Final. When both teams finished in a 4-4 tie after regulation and 15 minutes of overtime, they both took home the 2014 NJSIAA Non-Public championship title. Morristown-Beard’s four goals, scored by Michael Meisenbacher, Coleman Schultz, Thomas Rago and Luke Moser, all came in the first period.
This was also the first time Morristown-Beard won a State Championship.
To our hard-working Morristown and Morristown-Beard athletes: congratulations on outstanding seasons! We have watched you push yourselves at Next Level so that you could be the best you could be. Going that extra mile, time and time again, ultimately allowed you to distinguish yourselves in a statewide forum. You brought to yesterday’s games all of your on-ice and off-ice training and preparation, and we could not be more proud of your dedication, tenacity, and determination. Enjoy your well-deserved success!
