Congratulations to Delbarton varsity hockey on winning the 2016 NJSIAA Non-Public Tournament! The team won in an exciting 3-1 victory over Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) on March 7th at the Prudential Center in Newark. This is the eleventh overall State championship for the Green Wave.
Delbarton’s path to this year’s championship included prior tournament victories over Red Bank Catholic (7-0), St. Peter’s Prep (5-2), and St. Augustine (5-0).
Last year, Delbarton faced CBA in the State Finals as well.
We are proud of all of the hard work and commitment that went into Delbarton’s championship win. The team is devoted to its training regimen, both on and off the ice. They are a talented, hard-working group; each player comes to Next Level ready to give one-hundred percent, to better himself, and to push his teammates to be better. Congratulations to the team on having its dedicated efforts pay off!
We congratulate our other teams and individual athletes for their performances in this year’s State tournament. We especially recognize all of our individual athletes who played in the Public A State Championship game between the Morristown Colonials and the Randolph Rams. After a hard-fought game, Morristown emerged victorious and took home the Public A State title.
Of particular mention also is Morristown-Beard School, who advanced to the semifinals but lost in a heartbreaking semifinals overtime loss to St. Augustine. Morristown-Beard won the Non-Public title two years ago in 2014.
Although we will not list every individual player by name, we collectively recognize all of our individual athletes who competed this year in States—from Round 1 through the Finals.
We applaud of all of the hard work and intense training that went into this year’s State tournaments. Every year, we are always proud of our teams and athletes for pouring their heart and souls into every minute of every game.
